Team of the Week: Round 2

It’s easier to score a Test century in the fourth innings on a detorioating pitch in Kolkata against Saeed Ajmal and Shane Warne than it is to pick a Team of the Week, but anyway here goes nothing….

Click for the Team of the Week from Round 1.

The Earl the Pearl Rose Award for the worst player of the week still stands, but this week we have subbed the Robbie Fleck ‘throbber of the week’ award for the Tamati Ellison Magic Moment of the Week.

Tamati Ellison Magic Moment: Cory Jane (Hurricanes) – The Magic Moment award was a toss up between two cross kick tries, the one a superbly executed kick from Rebels eighthman Scott Higginbotham and the other from Hurricanes centre Hadleigh Parkes. However, Kill’s Corner gives the glory to Cory Jane for a catch that AB de Villiers would’ve been proud of. Parkes put in a neat kick pass to the right hand corner and a in full flight Jane lept forward at full stretch to claim the catch and slide over the chalk.

Earl Rose award: Johan Goosen (Cheethas) – Friday was a sad day for Cheetahs fans, even more so for Johan Goosen fans (of which I am one). A shocking day at the office for the boy wonder from the North Eastern Cape. His tactical kicking was as accurate as a pre-Ashes Mitchell Johnson and he just seemed completely out of sorts. He’s class though and should bounce back, but you know you’ve had a tough day at the office when fans are crying out for Elgar Watts to get on in your place.
